first it was the lies they told us, the people,
through the writers and repeaters of lies whom we trusted,
then it was the lies they told congress, and swore them to secrecy on their most sacred oaths,
later they told us the lies that they said they told themselves,
next it will be the lies they told each other, when the trials come, or the memoirs
who taught them the tactical lie,

whips between the houses in long loose chords

lay your voice upon the wind, it sounds for miles

kids playing upwind hear more by telepathy than vibration

the miracle, they always came back

climbing high in the 200 year live oaks

the wonder, they didn’t fall to the hot loose sand

black with years of tiny leaf drop

in the dark still grove

where mom can’t see

so, its not what it looks like

brake and then swerve to avoid

hitting a ghost crab.
